Abandoned checkout follow-up

When a lead is sent a checkout link but does not pay, the assistant sends up to two short reminders and stops the moment they pay or opt out

Sometimes a lead asks for the checkout link and then gets distracted. The assistant can follow up for you, gently and within your rules.

Turn it on or change it

Open Settings → Business Profile → Selling: direct close, then Follow up abandoned checkouts. It is on by default once direct close is on.

  • First reminder after (hours): 24 by default.
  • Reminders at most: 2 by default. Choose 0 to send none.
  • Hours between reminders: 48 by default, so the defaults send at 24 hours and 72 hours.

What the assistant sends

Each reminder is written by the assistant for that lead, with the same checkout link. It answers the likely hesitation in a sentence and invites a reply. It is checked like every other message the assistant writes:

  • the only price it may state is the price text on that link;
  • no discount beyond your maximum;
  • no pressure or false urgency;
  • it never says the lead has paid.

A reminder that cannot pass these checks is simply not sent.

When reminders stop

Reminders stop, and are never sent, when:

  • the lead pays (or a payment for them is waiting for you to confirm);
  • the lead opts out or is suppressed;
  • a colleague takes the conversation over, or the lead is paused, archived, won or lost;
  • you turn the setting off.

Every reminder is also checked again at the moment it would send, including quiet hours.

Which channel

A lead who has been talking to the assistant hears on the same channel. A lead who has not replied gets the reminder by email where possible, and by SMS only when it fits your SMS budget.

A week after the last reminder, an unpaid link is marked Expired on the lead page. If the lead pays later, the payment still counts.
